Here we introduce the main functions of DocuWorks.
Creating Documents
Scanning
By using a TWAIN-compatible scanner, you can import a paper document and handle it as a DocuWorks document.

Importing application data
Files created using other application software can be converted into a DocuWorks document simply by dragging-and-dropping.

Microsoft Office extendable functions
You can create DocuWorks documents by clicking the tool buttons available in Microsoft Office products by using "DocuWorks Creator for Microsoft Office".
Organizing and storing documents
Stack or unstack documents
You can stack and unstack documents such as DocuWorks documents created with data originated from the different applications, DocuWorks documents created with data originated from image files, and PDF documents.

Note
- The stacking function cannot be used for the following types of documents:
- DocuWorks binders and DocuWorks containers
- DocuWorks protected documents
- DocuWorks signed documents
- Secured PDF files
- Signed PDF files
- Combination of PDF documents and non-PDF documents
- Files other than DocuWorks documents and PDF documents
- The unstacking function cannot be used for the following types of documents:
- DocuWorks containers
- DocuWorks protected documents
- DocuWorks signed documents
- Secured PDF files
- Signed PDF files
- Files other than DocuWorks documents, DocuWorks binders, and PDF documents
- As for PDF documents, the following restrictions apply:
- If you stack or unstack PDF documents that have been optimized for Fast Web View, the documents are no longer optimized for Fast Web View.
- If processing takes more than an hour, processing is timed out and canceled.
DocuWorks binders
You can combine and store multiple DocuWorks documents as an independent stack.

DocuWorks containers
DocuWorks documents, DocuWorks binders, and any other files can be stored in a DocuWorks container, like you store such documents in an envelopes or "Clear Folder". Each DocuWorks container can contain further DocuWorks containers.

Storing documents (in the Desk folder)
You can store files in groups. Also, you can create a folder which is linked to a Windows directory.

Attaching original data
You can store data that you created with other software (such as Excel or Word) without modification in a DocuWorks document.

You can restrict operations by applying security restrictions to documents.

You can resize documents containing different page sizes to fit a specified size of paper.

DocuWorks documents can be converted to a variety of image file formats.

Document Editing
Document Editing
You can add annotations such as notepads, text, freehand drawings, shapes, date stamps, and received stamps to a DocuWorks document.

Re-using documents
You can use functions for finding character strings, selecting text, and extracting portions of images to re-use data from any document in another document created by a different application.

OCR
You can perform OCR on scanned documents in Viewer or by using the Desk plug-in and then edit or copy the resulting text.
