Copying or Moving a Portion of an Image
You can select an area on a page and copy or move it as an image (bitmap). This image can be copied or moved to another DocuWorks document or to a document opened in another application as well as within the same document.
When you paste the copied or cut image to the [Annotation Toolbar Options] window, it becomes a bitmap annotation. The part from which the image was cut out is covered with a white rectangle or polygon annotation that you can move or delete.

Copying a partial image
Procedure
1.
Select [Capture Image] from the [Page] menu, then select [Copy Image].
The [Capture Image] dialog box appears. Clear [Show this dialog in the next capturing image] to hide this dialog box for the subsequent image capturing.

Specify [Resolution], [Specification Method] and [Color/Monochrome], then click [OK]. When enclose rectangle area, select [Rectangle] from [Specification Method]. When you enclose polygon area, select [Polygon] from [Specification Method].
The shape of the cursor changes.

- To cancel at this point, select another mode.
- While placing the cross-shaped cursor over the image on the page, if you press the <Shift> key, both lines forming the cross extend to the edges of the page. Those extended lines of the cursor are displayed as long as the <Shift> key is being pressed. If you release the <Shift> key, the extended lines are no longer displayed.
3.
Specify the area to copy.
When [Specification Method] is set to [Rectangle], drag your mouse to select the area.
When [Polygon] is selected, click each vertex of the polygon, and double-click at the end point. Up to 256 vertices can be specified.

Elements in the specified area are stored in the clipboard. Annotations in the area are also copied as images.
To cancel the operation, press <Esc> key.

Display the destination document, then select [Paste] from the [Edit] menu.
The [Paste] dialog box appears.

Select the paste type ([OLE annotation] or [Other annotation]), then click [OK].
The bitmap stored in the clipboard are pasted to the top left corner of the current page or selected annotation.
Moving a partial image
Procedure
1.
Select [Capture Image] from the [Page] menu, then select [Crop Image].

If you have done a cropping operation, do not forget to paste the cropped image.
If you quite the operation without pasting it or if you do an operation other than paste, the file might be erased. The erased file is not moved to the recycle bin but deleted immediately.

Use the same procedure as described for "Copy Image" to select the way to crop the area, and specify the area with drag or click.
The part from which the image was cut out is covered with a white polygon annotation.

Display the destination page, and select [Paste] from the [Edit] menu.

Select the paste type ([OLE annotation] or [Other annotation]), then click [OK].
The bitmap stored in the clipboard are pasted to the top left corner of the current page or selected annotation.
Specifying the resolution, area shape, and color for image capturing
You can specify the resolution, area shape, and color to be used for all [Copy Image] and [Crop Image] operations.
You can also choose whether to display the [Capture Image] dialog box when the image is captured.

Procedure
1.
Select [Capture Image] from the [Page] menu, then select [Options].
The [Capture Image] dialog box appears.
2.
Select the desired options and click [OK].
When you click [OK], the settings are saved and applied to the subsequent image capturing.
