About Creating Documents

You can convert the following types of data and documents to DocuWorks documents. Each type requires different conversion procedure and pre-conversion settings.
Note
You can set it in the [Preferences] dialog box how to create DocuWorks documents.

Creating DocuWorks documents from application data

DocuWorks documents originating from application data are created from print information sent to the DocuWorks Printer by the application. These DocuWorks documents are called "application pages".
To convert application data into DocuWorks documents, the application associated with the data must be installed on your PC.
You can use any of the following methods to create DocuWorks documents from application data:
  • Dragging-and-dropping files or folders to the Desk workspace
  • Selecting [Import Files] or [Import Folders] from the [File] menu

  • Clicking [Convert to DocuWorks] from the Microsoft Office application

Attaching original data

You can attach a copy of the original file when creating a DocuWorks document from application file. The attached file is called the original data.
Note
The original data is a copy of the file before it was converted. The original file is not deleted by attaching original data.
The original data can be re-edited using the original application even after converting them into DocuWorks documents.
There are 3 models for creating DocuWorks documents from application file. You can specify the model in the [Preferences] dialog box or when creating a document.
  • Creating a page and attaching the original data
  • Creating a page without attaching the original data
  • Attaching the original data without creating a page
