This topic describes the main specifications of DocuWorks.

Creation of DocuWorks documents

Maximum number of pages converted into a DocuWorks document
When creating a document from an application data, you can create up to 10,000 pages in a document at a time.
Application data that can be converted to a DocuWorks document
The size of data temporary created for display during creation of a DocuWorks document from application data must not exceed 1 GB.

    You can reduce any original document larger than A3 in size to fit in A3, if so specified by the setting.

Note
You can import the image PDF files that are scanned by FUJIFILM Business Innovation or Fuji Xerox multifunction machines as well as the image PDF files that are generated by ApeosWare Flow Service, and covert them into DocuWorks files.
Size of scanned data or an image file that can be converted to DocuWorks documents
  • For JPEG files, the size of JPEG data after compression cannot exceed 1 GB.
  • For TIFF (MMR) files, the size of TIFF (MMR) data after compression cannot exceed 1 GB.
  • For files other than JPEG files and TIFF (MMR) files, the size of data before compression cannot exceed 1 GB.
  • The number of dots (horizontal by vertical) cannot exceed 65,500 pixels.

Image conversion

Image file formats that can be converted from DocuWorks documents
  • Bitmap file (.bmp)
  • JPEG file (.jpg)
  • TIFF file (.tif)
    No compression, Packbits, JPEG, JPEG (TTN2) and G4 are supported (multi-page TIFF supported)
  • PDF file (.pdf)
    The maximum number of dots (horizontal by vertical) is 65,535 pixels. Also, you can convert to a PDF file that has up to 1,999 pages.

  • The size of a bitmap image that is temporarily created during conversion must not exceed 1 GB.

File size limits for DocuWorks documents
  • You cannot save the DocuWorks documents whose data size exceeds 1.9 GB.
  • FUJIFILM Business Innovation recommends using a maximum of 10,000 pages.

When the number of annotations attached to a document exceeds 1000, OS GDI resources limit can be reached, and thus the system performance may be degraded.

Operation log

Location where log file is created
Log files are created in the [Log] folder under the Desk folder.
Applications for which log is to be recorded
In log files, operations done in the following applications are recorded.
  • Desk
  • Viewer
  • Viewer Control
  • DocuWorks Printer
When log is to be recorded
Log is recorded when any of the applications above is exited.
Log file name
The name of the created log files is "DocuWorks-YYYYMM.log".
For example: "DocuWorks-201711.log"
Log record
Log records are added to the same log file as far as they are recorded in the same year and month.
For example, log between April 1st 2021 and April 30th 2021 is recorded in "DocuWorks-202104.log".
When the month changes, a new log file is created.
Character code of log file
The character encoding of log files is UTF-8.
Log content
Log file contains one line per event.
Each Information line recorded in log file has the following format:
Year-month- day time,0071-ID-DOCUWORKS,message displayed in each operation,user name,process ID
For example: 2017-11-20 12:00:00.000+9:00,0071-001327-DOCUWORKS,"0",Administrator,11111
