Splitting a Document
There are two ways to split the document: specifying positions to split (page numbers), and specifying a unit to split (the number of pages).
Note
- For information on files allowed for this operation, see "Files Allowed for Document Operation/Edition."
- You can select one file at a time.
- You can split a file to up to 100 files at a time.
- You cannot split documents larger than 1 GB.
- Up to 300 pages will be displayed on the screen. The pages that are not displayed cannot be split.
Splitting a Document
The document being split is in the locked state, and will be unlocked after the splitting completed.
Procedure
1.
Select a document to split, and select [Split] from the quick menu.
The [Split] screen will be displayed.

You can use the following methods to split.

Specifying Positions (Page Numbers) to Split
On the [Split] screen, click the positions at which you want to split the document. Multiple split positions are possible and can be set at any points.
Example: if you select page numbers 2, 4 and 5 - the split lines are set.

Specifying a Split Unit (The Number of Pages) to Split
On the [Split] screen, select the [Split Every N Pages] check box, and enter [Number of Split Pages] .
Example: if you select splitting at every 3 pages - the split lines are set at 3-page interval.
Splitting the Original Document
Overwrite the source document with the documents in the former-part of the split result.
You can split the original document only when the document you have split is a PDF or XDW document.
Except for the former-part document, all of the split documents are new documents. The new documents are named as the name of the source document suffixed with a hyphen followed by a 5-digit number.
Example: SourceDocument-00001.pdf
If the document you have split is an XDW document, the new documents will be created as XDW documents.
If it is not an XDW document, the new documents will be created as PDF documents.
You can split the original document only when the document you have split is a PDF or XDW document.
Except for the former-part document, all of the split documents are new documents. The new documents are named as the name of the source document suffixed with a hyphen followed by a 5-digit number.
Example: SourceDocument-00001.pdf
If the document you have split is an XDW document, the new documents will be created as XDW documents.
If it is not an XDW document, the new documents will be created as PDF documents.

Click [Split].

If the default value of [Attribute Value Inheritance] in
[Personal Settings] is set to [Select at run time], the [Split] dialog will be displayed. Select an action and click [OK].

Note
If the source document was in the locked state when you perform [Split Original Document], the former-part of the split result will be still locked.
Splitting the Copied Document
The document will be copied first and then split. The source document remains intact.
The documents after splitting are named as the name of the source document suffixed with a hyphen followed by a 5-digit number.
Example: SourceDocument-00001.pdf, SourceDocument-00002.pdf, and so on
If the document who you have split is an XDW document, the new documents will be created as XDW documents.
If it is not an XDW document, the new documents will be created as PDF documents.
The documents after splitting are named as the name of the source document suffixed with a hyphen followed by a 5-digit number.
Example: SourceDocument-00001.pdf, SourceDocument-00002.pdf, and so on
If the document who you have split is an XDW document, the new documents will be created as XDW documents.
If it is not an XDW document, the new documents will be created as PDF documents.

Clear the [Split Original Document] checkbox, and click [Split a Copy].
2.
If the source document is not a PDF or XDW document, click [OK] on the confirmation screen.
3.
If the default value of [Attribute Value Inheritance] in
[Personal Settings] is set to [Select at run time], the [Split] dialog will be displayed. Select an action and click [OK].

Note
If the source document was in the locked state when you split the copy, the documents after splitting will not be locked.
When the source document has attachments
After splitting, attachments that were associated with the whole document are attached to the document containing the page that was originally the first page in the source document.
Attachments that were attached to pages are still attachments for those pages.
Attachments that were attached to pages are still attachments for those pages.
Changing the Default Action When Splitting a Document
Procedure
1.
Click the
icon in the navigation header.

2.
In [Attribute Value Inheritance], select one of the following.
- Select at run time
A dialog will be displayed for you to select whether to inherit the attribute values of the original document when splitting a document. - Follow the settings below
You can set whether to inherit the attribute values of the original document.
3.
Click [Save].
Note
In the case of [Select at run time], you select the action when splitting a document, but you can save the setting by selecting the [Save this setting in your user settings and don't show it again] checkbox.
