[Security Settings - Digital Certificate (256bit V8 or later/128bit V5 or later)] dialog box

This dialog box appears when you select [Digital Certificate (256bit V8 or later)] or [Digital Certificate (128bit V5 or later)] in the [Security Module Options] dialog box.
In this dialog box, you can limit four types of operation for documents by using a certificate. You can set up a certificate that opens a document as well as one which enables entry to full access mode. Binders are manipulated in the same manner. A document which is limited of any one of its operations is called a protected document.

[Manage security settings]

All items of [Security Settings (Digital Certificate)] dialog box is saved with new names and called "Security settings". The maximum number of security settings you can save is 100.

[Security settings]

Lists the stored security setting name. If you select security settings from the list, [Restricted operations], [Certificate capable of entering full access mode], and [Certificate capable of opening the document] are set according to the content stored in the security settings.
If you change the settings of [Restricted operations], [Certificate capable of entering full access mode], and [Certificate capable of opening the document] after selecting the security settings, "(Modified)" is added to the security setting name of the security settings.

[Save]

Save current settings of [Security Settings (Digital Certificate)] dialog box as security settings. When you click [Save], [Entry of the security settings name] dialog box appears. If "(Modified)" is displayed in security setting name, save it with a different name.

[Delete]

Deletes security settings displayed in [Security settings]. If "(Modified)" is displayed in security setting name, you cannot delete it.

[Export]

Saves security settings displayed in [Security settings] as a file. If you click [Export], the [Save As] dialog box appears. Specify the file name and location to save. Default file name is [security_settings.dat].

[Import]

Imports security settings stored as a file. If you click [Import], the [Open] dialog box appears. Open the file of the security settings. You can open only files with the ".dat" extension in this dialog box.

[Restricted operations]

[Prohibit editing of document]

You can set whether or not to prohibit the editing of documents other than the annotations.
By default, this check box is cleared.
When this box is selected, you cannot perform the following operations.
  • Create a page and move it by dragging-and-dropping
  • Cut, paste, and delete a page
  • Move an original data by dragging-and-dropping
  • Cut, paste, and delete original data
  • Rotating / Deskew / Reduce noise
  • Set up / update / delete header and footer
  • Perform OCR processing / Edit OCR-performed text
  • Insert a document into a binder / insert a new document into a binder / delete a document from a binder
  • Move and modify documents

[Prohibit annotation editing]

Prohibits editing of annotations.
By default, this check box is cleared.
If you select this check box, the following operations cannot be performed for annotation:
  • Paste a new annotation
  • Resize / delete, change properties
  • Fix / unfix
  • Copy to all pages after next
  • Move (by dragging-and-dropping) / Cut
  • Arrange position, bring to front or send to back
  • Show / hide annotations
  • Text annotation editing
  • OLE annotation
  • Cut as OLE object
  • Paste (by dragging-and-dropping) from outside of Viewer
  • Crop image
  • Write Signature and Save As
Note
  • Even if annotation editing is prohibited, the following operations can still be performed:
  • Jump from the link target of a link annotation
  • Switch on or off the links of all linked annotations
  • Though annotation editing is prohibited, if the OLE annotation is linked to a file and is not displayed as an icon, the change made in the link source is reflected in the view of the OLE annotation.

[Prohibit printing]

Prohibits printing. If you select this box, printing and print preview cannot be performed.
By default, this box is cleared.

[Prohibit copying]

Prohibits copying of document contents.
By default, this check box is cleared.
When this box is selected, you cannot perform the following operations.
  • Copy all objects
  • Copy by dragging
  • Cut all objects
  • Move by dragging to outside of document
  • Copy annotation to all pages starting from the next page
  • Extract original data
  • Convert image / Perform OCR
  • Deskew / Reduce noise
  • Cut or copy as OLE object
  • Extract document from binder

[Certificate capable of entering full access mode]

Displays certificates which permit to change security settings and to perform prohibited operations. Users who have this type of certificate as their own certificate can take a full access mode to protected documents.
Certificates which cannot be used by reason that they have expired or been revoked are displayed with "×" mark. Select certificates which cannot be used and click [Delete].
Up to 1,020 certificates can be shown. Certificates set to full-access mode are automatically set in [Certificate capable of opening the document].

[Certificate capable of opening the document]

Displays certificates which open protected documents. Users who have this type of certificate as their "own certificate" can open protected documents.
Certificates which cannot be used by reason that they have expired or been revoked are displayed with "×" mark. Select certificates which cannot be used and click [Delete].
Up to 1,020 certificates can be shown.

[Add]

Specifies certificates which take a full-access mode and certificates which open documents. The [Add Certificate] dialog box appears. Select more than one certificate which give such permissions and click [OK].

[Delete]

Deletes a certificate selected in [Certificate capable of entering full access mode] or [Certificate capable of opening the document] from the list.

[Delete All]

Deletes all of certificates shown in [Certificate capable of entering full access mode] or [Certificate capable of opening the document] from the list. When you click the button, you will be prompted by a message.

[Certificate Attributes]

Displays information of certificates selected in [Certificate capable of entering full access mode] or [Certificate capable of opening the document]. You can confirm whether you can use the certificate, and confirm the "Issued to", "Issued by", its expiration date, and serial number.

[Set]

Sets up security with specified contents. You can set up when there are certificates in [Certificate capable of entering full access mode] or [Certificate capable of opening the document].
Important
If you do not set your own certificate in [Certificate capable of entering full access mode] or [Certificate capable of opening the document], you will not be able to open protected documents by yourself.

[Delete]

Removes the security settings. When you click the button, you will be prompted by a message.
Note
  • The settings specified in the Viewer are applied to the document when you save that document. When the document is closed without saving, the security settings are not applied to it.
  • If the same document is open in another Viewer while you set or deleted security to it in Viewer, the setting will not be reflected in the document in the former Viewer.

[Cancel]

Cancels the settings and closes the dialog box.
