Configuring Password-protected Security

You can configure the password-protected security for documents as follows. You can perform the following procedure either from Desk or from Viewer. If you are configuring multiple documents with the same settings, use Desk which allows you to configure multiple documents at once.
Procedure
1.
In Desk, change the view mode of the workspace to thumbnail view, then select one or more documents whose security you want to configure. Note that you can select more than one document.
In Viewer, open the document.
2.
Select [Security] from the [Document] menu, then select [Security Settings].
3.
Select [Password (256bit V8 or later)] , [Password (128bit V5 or later)] , or [Password (56bit V4 or later)] , then click [OK].
4.
Change the settings as necessary, then click [Set].
5.
Enter the password you specified again.
Specify whether to temporarily store the [Open password], then click [OK].
In Viewer, security settings are reflected when the document is saved.
In Desk, the security settings are immediately reflected and an open padlock mark appears in the lower right corner of the thumbnail.
If you don't want to show the thumbnail, close Desk, then reopen it. The thumbnail will not be displayed.
If you have selected [Store new open password temporarily], DWSPswd starts and a corresponding icon appears in the notification area on the right side of the task bar.
Note
  • Only alphanumerical characters and symbols can be used in a password and its length must not exceed 255 characters.
  • Settings made in Viewer are reflected when the document is saved. If you close the document without saving it, the security settings are not reflected.
