Protocol Settings - E-mail
This page allows you to configure the settings for E-mail.
SMTP Server Settings
Machine's E-mail Address
Enter the printer's e-mail address within 63 bytes.
A mail address is configured with only "local portion@domain portion" or "local portion".
You cannot use a period (.) at the beginning or end of each portion, or you cannot use in succession.
In the "local portion", you can use alphanumeric characters and the following symbols.
! # $ % & ' * + - / = ? ^ _ ´ { | } ~
In the "domain portion", you can use alphanumeric characters, a period (.), a hyphen (-), and an underscore (_).
This will be the address used when sending e-mails to the printer. The address will also appear after "From:" on e-mails sent from the printer.
SMTP Server Address
Enter the IP address of the outgoing e-mail server to be connected via SMTP protocol, or enter the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name). The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters, periods (.), and hyphens (-).
SMTP Server Port Number
Enter the port number to be used on the SMTP server. The port number can be any number between 1 and 65535.
Send Authentication
E-Mail Send Authentication
The printer supports the following login methods. Ask your server administrator which login method is used by the SMTP/POP server.
- Invalid
- POP before SMTP (Plain/APOP)
- SMTP AUTH (Plain/Login/CRAM-MD5/AUTO)
When [SMTP AUTH (AUTO)] is selected, the printer automatically supports Plain/Login/CRAM-MD5. If the login feature is not used, select [Invalid].
Login Name
Enter the login user name for the SMTP server within 63 bytes. The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters, periods (.) hyphens (-), underscores (_), and the @ mark.
Password
Enter the login password of the SMTP server within 31 bytes. The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters and symbols.
The password is displayed in circles (●), regardless of whether it has already been set or not.
To enter a password, delete all the circles and then enter the password. A blank (null) cannot be set.
The asterisks (*) may be displayed instead of circles.
Re-enter Password
Re-enter the password entered in [Password] for verification.
SMTP Server Connection Status
Displays one of the following five messages according to the status of connection to the outgoing e-mail server.
- Disabled
The e-mail port is inactive.
- Not connected
The status after the e-mail port has been activated and before the first e-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) starts.
- Connecting...
The status after an e-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) started (the printer is connected to the server) and before it completed. (the printer is disconnected from the server).
- Ready
An e-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) completed successfully. This status continues until the next e-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) starts.
- Unable to connect
An e-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) completed abnormally. This status continues until the next e-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) starts.

POP3 Server Settings
POP3 Server Address
Enter the IP address of the incoming e-mail server to be connected via POP3 protocol, or enter the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name). The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters, periods (.) and hyphens (-).
POP3 Server Port Number
Enter the port number to be used on the POP3 server. The port number can be any number between 1 and 65535.
Login Name
Enter the user name for the incoming e-mail server within 63 bytes. The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters, periods (.), hyphens (-), underscores (_), and the @ mark.
Password
Enter the password for the incoming e-mail server within 31 bytes using alphanumeric characters and symbols.
The password is displayed in circles (●), regardless of whether it has already been set or not.
To enter a password, delete all the circles and then enter the password. A blank (null) cannot be set.
The asterisks (*) may be displayed instead of circles.
Re-enter Password
Re-enter the password entered in [Password] for verification.
POP3 Server Check Interval
Set the interval to check for new e-mails sent to the incoming e-mail server. The interval can be set within the range of 1 to 255 minutes.
This setting appears if your printer supports the StatusMessenger or E-mail Print feature.
APOP Settings
Select [Enabled] if the incoming e-mail server supports APOP.
This setting appears if your printer supports the StatusMessenger or E-mail Print feature.
POP3 Server Connection Status
Displays one of the five messages according to the status of connection to the incoming e-mail server. Clicking the [Refresh] button refreshes the messages. Refer to [SMTP Server Connection Status] for details about the displayed contents.

Click this button to check whether new e-mails have arrived at the incoming e-mail server.
This button appears only when the StatusMessenger port or E-mail Print port is enabled.
Permitted E-mail Address
E-mail Address 1-4
To impose restrictions on e-mail reception, enter the e-mail addresses you permit to receive e-mails from within 31 bytes.
A mail address is configured with only "local portion@domain portion" or "local portion".

In the "local portion", you can use alphanumeric characters and the following symbols.

In the "domain portion", you can use alphanumeric characters, a period (.), a hyphen (-), and an underscore (_).
You can specify up to 4 permitted e-mail addresses. If none is specified, all e-mails will be permitted.
StatusMessenger Password
Password
When setting a password for read-only access, enter the password within 7 bytes in the text box. The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters.
This password will be used when viewing e-mail attachments received by the printer via StatusMessenger.
The password is displayed in circles (●), regardless of whether it has already been set or not.
To enter a password, delete all the circles and then enter the password. To clear a password, leave the text box blank.
The asterisks (*) may be displayed instead of circles.
Re-enter Password
Re-enter the password entered in [Password] for verification.
Print Job Password
This setting appears if your printer supports the E-mail Print feature.
Password
When setting a password for E-mail Print, enter the password within 7 bytes in the text box. The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters.
This password will be used when printing e-mail attachments received by the printer.
The password is displayed in circles (●), regardless of whether it has already been set or not.
To enter a password, delete all the circles and then enter the password. To clear a password, leave the text box blank.
The asterisks (*) may be displayed instead of circles.
