Setting Up Your Web Browser

Before using CentreWare Internet Services, set up your web browser by completing the following steps.

When Using Internet Explorer 8.0 (Windows)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [General] tab, click [Languages].

  3. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Language] list.
    Example:
    English (United States) [en-us]

  4. Click the [OK] button.

  5. On the [Internet Options] screen, click the [OK] button.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [Connections] tab, click the [LAN Settings] button.

  3. Set [Proxy server] by one of the following methods:
    • Clear the [Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections).] check box.
    • Click the [Advanced] button, set the printer's IP address in [Exceptions], and then click the [OK] button.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

  5. On the [Internet Options] screen, click the [OK] button.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [Security] tab, select [Local intranet], and click the [Custom level] button.

  3. Scroll to find the [Scripting] header, and ensure that [Active Scripting] is enabled.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

  5. On the [Internet Options] screen, click the [OK] button.

To enable SSL communication:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [Advanced] tab, scroll down to the [Security] heading and select [Use SSL 3.0] or [Use TLS 1.0] check box.

  3. Click the [OK] button.

When Using Mozilla Firefox 3.0 (Windows)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Options].

  2. Select [Content] on the [Options] dialog box.

  3. Click the [Choose] button under [Languages].

  4. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Languages in order of preference] list.
    Example:
    English [en] or English/United States [en-us]

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Click [OK] in the [Options] dialog box.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Options].

  2. Select [Advanced] in the [Options] dialog box.

  3. On the [Network] tab, click the [Settings] button.

  4. Do one of the following:
    • Select [No proxy], if you do not want to use a proxy.
    • Select [Auto-detect proxy settings for this network].
    • Select [Manual proxy configuration], and then enter a hostname and a port number if you have a list of one or more proxy servers. If you have an IP address that does not use a proxy, enter the IP address of your printer in the [No Proxy for] edit box.
    • Select [Automatic proxy configuration URL], and then enter a proxy configuration file's URL. Click the [Reload] button to load the settings.

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Click [OK] in the [Options] dialog box.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Options].

  2. Select [Content] in the [Options] dialog box.

  3. Select the [Enable JavaScript] check box.

  4. Click [OK] in the [Options] dialog box.

To enable SSL communication:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Options].

  2. Select [Advanced] in the [Options] dialog box.

  3. Select the [Encryption] tab. Under [Protocols], select the [Use SSL 3.0] and [Use TLS 1.0] check boxes.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

When Using Google Chrome 13.0 (Windows)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From [Customize and control Google Chrome] icon, select [Options].

  2. On [Under the Hood], click [Languages and spell-checker settings] under the [Web Content].

  3. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Languages] list.
    Example:
    English (United States)

  4. Close all Google Chrome windows and relaunch it for this change to take effect.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Customize and control Google Chrome] icon, select [Options].

  2. On [Under the Hood], click [Change proxy settings] under the [Network].

  3. On the [Connections] tab, click the [LAN settings] button.

  4. Set [Proxy server] by one of the following methods:
    • Clear the [Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections).] check box.
    • Click the [Advanced] button, set the printer's IP address in [Exceptions], and then click the [OK] button.

  5. Click the [OK] button.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Customize and control Google Chrome] icon, select [Options].

  2. On [Under the Hood], click [Change proxy settings] under the [Network].

  3. On the [Security] tab, select [Local intranet], and click the [Custom level] button.

  4. Scroll to find the [Scripting] header, and ensure that [Active Scripting] is enabled.

  5. Click the [OK] button.

To enable SSL communication:

Procedure

  1. From [Customize and control Google Chrome] icon, select [Options].

  2. On [Under the Hood], click [Change proxy settings] under the [Network].

  3. On the [Advanced] tab, scroll down to the [Security] heading and select [Use SSL 3.0] or [Use TLS 1.0] check box.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

When Using Safari 5.0 (Mac OS X)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. Select [System Preferences] from Dock.

  2. Select [Language & Text] in [Personal].

  3. Select [Language].

  4. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the languages list.
    Example:
    English

  5. Close the language setting screen.

  6. Restart the computer.

To set the printer IP address so it does not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Safari] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Advanced].

  3. Click the [Change Settings] button next to [Proxies].

  4. Select one of the following settings:
    • Clear the [Web Proxy (HTTP)] or [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)] check box under [Select a protocol to configure].
    • Select the [Web Proxy (HTTP)] or [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)] check box under [Select a protocol to configure], and then enter the printer's IP address in [Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains].
      For information on the settings for [Web Proxy (HTTP)] and [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)], consult your system administrator.

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Click the [Apply] button.

  7. Close the [Network] screen.

  8. Close the preferences setting screen.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Safari] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Security].

  3. Select the [Enable JavaScript] check box for [Web content].

  4. Close the preferences setting screen.

When Using Mozilla Firefox 3.0 (Mac OS X)

To set the display language:

  1. From [Firefox] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Content].

Procedure

  1. From [Firefox] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Advanced].

  3. Select the [Encryption] tab. Under [Protocols], select the [Use SSL 3.0] and [Use TLS 1.0] check boxes.

  4. Close the preferences setting screen.

When Using Google Chrome 13.0 (Mac OS X)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From wrench icon, select [Settings].

  2. On [Under the Hood], click [Language Settings] under the [Web Content].

  3. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Language] list.
    Example:
    English (United States)

  4. Restart for this change to take effect.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From wrench icon, select [Settings].

  2. On [Under the Hood], click [Change Proxy Settings] under the [Network].

  3. Click the [Proxies] button.

  4. Select one of the following settings:
    • Clear the [Web Proxy (HTTP)] or [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)] check box under [Select a protocol to configure].
    • Select the [Web Proxy (HTTP)] or [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)] check box under [Select a protocol to configure], and then enter the printer's IP address in [Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains].
      For information on the settings for [Web Proxy (HTTP)] and [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)], consult your system administrator.

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Click the [Apply] button.

  7. Close the [Network] screen.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From wrench icon, select [Settings].

  2. On [Under the Hood], click [Content Settings] under the [Privacy].

  3. Select [Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)] under the [JavaScript].
