Supported Types of QR Codes/Barcodes
This section describes the types of QR codes and barcodes supported by FUJIFILM IWpro.
Types of Barcodes
The following types of barcodes are supported.
- CODE39
- CODE128
- NW7
- For CODE128, the read value is returned with the check digit removed. For CODE39 and NW7, the read value is returned as-is.
Barcode Print Size
The following conditions must be met to ensure that a scanned barcode can be read correctly.
- Ensure that the line width of the barcode is at or above the following minimum line width to the reading resolution when scanning.
Barcodes with a smaller line width than the minimum line width cannot be read.Reading Resolution Minimum Line Width 200 dpi or 300 dpi 0.7 mm 400 dpi or 600 dpi 0.3 mm - A margin 10 times wider than the minimum line width is required around a barcode. Barcodes without a margin cannot be read.
- For a 10 digit barcode, a height of 10 mm or more is required. For a barcode with 10 or more digits, a height proportional to the number of digits is required. Barcodes without a sufficient height cannot be read.
QR Code Print Size
The following conditions must be met to ensure that a scanned QR code can be read correctly.
- The required QR code print size differs according to the scan resolution. The QR code size required for each scan resolution is indicated below. QR codes smaller than the size in the table cannot be read.
Resolution Size of QR Code 200 dpi 20 x 20 mm or larger 300 dpi 13 x 13 mm or larger 400 dpi 10 x 10 mm or larger 600 dpi 7 x 7 mm or larger - A margin of four QR code dots or wider is required around a QR code. Ensure there is a margin equivalent in size to the finder pattern (cutout symbol). QR codes without a margin cannot be read.
- The finder pattern (cutout symbol) is the rectangular shape for position detection located in three corners of a QR code.
- Make sure that QR codes are square. QR codes cannot be read unless their aspect ratio is 1:1.
- Make sure that the black dots of QR codes are square. QR codes cannot be read if the dots are rounded.
Notes
Note the following when reading barcodes or QR codes.
Reading Barcodes
- Barcodes printed diagonally to a form cannot be read.
- Make sure that the background color of the barcodes are white, the barcode lines are black, and the contrast is high. Barcodes with low contrast cannot be read.
Reading QR Codes
- QR codes cannot be read if they are partially masked (with a logo, etc.)
- Make sure that the background color of the QR codes are white, the QR code dots are black, and the contrast is high. QR codes with low contrast cannot be read.
- QR codes generated with the ECI (Extended Channel Interpretation) mode cannot be read.
