Checking Out/In DocuWorks Files
Checking out means to lock a document and then download it. Other users cannot upload, delete, rename, and check out a checked-out document until it is unlocked.
Checking in means to upload a new version of the document and then unlock it.
Checking in means to upload a new version of the document and then unlock it.
This section explains how to check out and check in DocuWorks files (extension xdw, xbd, or xct).
Note
Documents in a Secure Drawer or encryption drawer cannot be checked out.

Steps
1.
In the workspace area, display the content in the drawer or folder.
2.
Right-click the desired DocuWorks file and select [Check Out and Open] from the pop-up menu.
The DocuWorks file is locked on Working Folder and downloaded, and then opened in Viewer.
Note
To open a DocuWorks Container (a DocuWorks file whose extension is xct), DocuWorks 8 or later is required.
Checking In a DocuWorks File
Steps
1.
After you have completed editing the DocuWorks file, close Viewer.
The [Check In] dialog box is displayed.
2.
Click [Yes].
The edited DocuWorks file is uploaded as the new version, and the file is unlocked on Working Folder.
Note
- If the checked-out document is unlocked, a confirmation screen is displayed asking if you want to check in or not.
- If check in fails for some reasons such as communication failure, an error message appears. When you open the path shown in the message in Explorer, the edited file has been saved. The file is currently being checked out to Working Folder. You can use your web browser to check in the edited file.。
