[Save in Unicode format]
- Specifies whether to save text input into items on the [Summary] tab as Unicode or multi-byte code.
- When saved with this check box selected: Any items are saved as Unicode characters.
When saved with this check box cleared: Any items are saved in multi-byte codes. If those names contain Unicode characters that cannot be represented in multi-byte codes, a confirmation message appears telling you that some characters are getting garbled. When you click [OK], those characters are replaced with question mark "?".
About the character codes for each item
The following are rules for character codes for items on the [Summary] tab.
- If you edit a document where every item consists of multi-byte codes only, the check box is dimmed. If you save the document or binder with the check box dimmed, it results in a document containing items whose strings have a mixture of Unicode characters and multi-byte codes characters.
However, if every item consists of alphanumerics only, the check box is cleared and the document or binder is saved in multi-byte codes.
Note
Documents with Unicode characters become Ver.7 documents.
