Changing Folder Properties

You can change the properties of a folder in Desk.

Renaming a folder

Procedure
1.
Select the folder you want to rename, then select [Rename] from the [File] menu.
The cursor appears in the name field.
2.
Enter a new name and press the <Enter> key.
The file or folder name is changed.
Note
  • The following characters cannot be used in folder names:
    ¥ / : * ? " < > |
  • The first character of a folder name cannot be a space.
  • The last character of a folder name cannot be a space or a period (.).
  • The name of a folder, including the path name, is limited to 244 characters.
  • You can also rename a folder by selecting it and pressing the <F2> key.
  • You cannot rename system definition folders.

Changing folder properties

You can change the properties of a folder using the [Folder Property] dialog box. The properties that can be changed vary according to the type of the folder. You cannot change the properties of system definition folders.
The following properties can be changed in the [Folder Property] dialog box:
  • Read-only property (for user definition folders and link definition folders)
  • Color of the folder icon
  • Path of the link target (for link root folders only)
  • Frame color when a file is selected in the workspace
  • Background color of the workspace when a folder is open
  • The zoom ratio of the thumbnail when a folder is open

Procedure
1.
Select the folder for which you want to change the properties, then select [Properties] from the [File] menu.
2.
Select the desired options and click [OK].
The [Folder Property] dialog box closes and the settings are updated.
The following restrictions apply to read-only folders:
  • Files cannot be added to (copied or created in) read-only folders.
  • Files in read-only folders cannot be edited (stacked or unstacked).
  • Security settings for files in read-only folders cannot be changed.
Also, when you open the documents in read-only folders, they are opened as a read-only document.
