About OLE Support

You can use DocuWorks files in other applications using the OLE function.

OLE functions supported by DocuWorks

There are two OLE functions in DocuWorks.

OLE server

Use this function to make use of DocuWorks files by inserting them into other applications as OLE objects.

OLE client

Use this function to paste an OLE object such as a chart, picture, video, sound, etc. created by another application into a DocuWorks document as an OLE annotation.

Types of inserted DocuWorks document objects

There are two types of DocuWorks objects. Specify the type of DocuWorks object when inserting it in other applications.

Embedded

This type of DocuWorks object is directly embedded in application data.
Any change to the source file therefore does not affect the embedded DocuWorks object. You edit the embedded DocuWorks object directly.

Linked

This type of DocuWorks object is linked to the original imported DocuWorks file.
When the link source is changed, it is reflected in the inserted DocuWorks object. When the DocuWorks object is changed, it is also reflected in the source DocuWorks file.
Note
When you create a new DocuWorks object, it is of the embedded type.
