About the Character Codes Conversion Plug-in
Character codes conversion plug-in converts multi-byte code of a document into Unicode. You can correctly display documents from versions of DocuWorks in other languages. Or, convert the Unicode of a document into multi-byte code. You can open these documents in DocuWorks 6 or earlier.
Converting the multi-byte code to the Unicode is executed on the following document elements.
- Summary of the document
- User-defined properties
- Document name in binder
- Original data name
- OCR result text
Converting the Unicode to the multi-byte code is executed on the following document elements.
- Body text of a document
- Summary of the document
- User-defined properties
- Document name in binder
- Original data name
- OCR result text
Note
- The document converted into the multi-byte code becomes the Ver.4 document, the Ver.5 document, or Ver.6 document according to the content.
- The Ver.7 document whose size of height or width is more than 500 mm, or data size exceeds 250 MB remains Ver.7 document even if Unicode is converted into the multi-byte code.
- As the result of conversion from Unicode data to multi-byte code data, any characters that cannot be converted properly are replaced with "?" or "_".
- DocuWorks containers, documents protected with "Password (256bit V8 or later)", and documents protected with "Digital Certificate (256bit V8 or later)" (these are all Ver.8 documents) are skipped without being converted to multi-byte code.
