About the Conversion to PDF (Adobe PDF) Plug-in
The conversion to PDF (Adobe PDF) plug-in allows you to convert DocuWorks documents to PDF documents using a function of an Adobe Acrobat product. To use this plug-in, Adobe Acrobat XI, Adobe Acrobat X, or Adobe Acrobat 9 must be installed on your PC.
- The conversion process is skipped if a protected document is present in the selected DocuWorks documents and you are not authorized to print that document.
- If a document in the format other than DocuWorks document is present in the selected documents, only the DocuWorks documents are converted skipping the documents of other format. Also, if no DocuWorks document is present in the selected files, an error message is displayed, and no conversion takes place.
- The converted PDF file is created in the same folder as the original DocuWorks document. When [Show files other than DocuWorks files] is selected in [View] under [DocuWorks Desk Options] in the [Preferences] dialog box, the created PDF file is displayed on the Desk workspace.
The following information is inherited to the converted PDF file:
- Text of application page
- Text of text annotations
- Text of a received stamp annotation
- Title text of opaque link annotations
- Page headers
- Page number
- OCR result text
- Date and time annotation
The following restrictions apply:
- Up to 30 files can be changed at a time.
- Annotations such as text annotations are embedded as body text on a PDF document after the conversion without retaining the annotation format.
- If the document is saved while its annotations are hidden, no annotations are transferred onto a PDF document during the conversion.
- Text positioning may not be accurately converted onto a PDF document.
- When converting a DocuWorks document into a PDF document, any parts of the OCR-processed text that do not fit on the paper size of the PDF document may be cut off, and not fully converted onto the PDF document.
- When converting the OCR-processed DocuWorks document that has been rotated, text positioning may not be accurately transferred into the PDF document.
- If the OCR-processing fails to obtain the text positioning information of certain text, then this particular OCR result text appears at the top left of the PDF document page.
- The specified [Adobe PDF Page Size] setting in the [Adobe PDF Settings] tab of the Adobe PDF document properties is inherited into the converted document while other settings are not.
Note
A job option file may be attached to PDF file created with conversion to PDF plug-in depending on the settings of the Acrobat Distiller's PDF settings. By default, a job option file is not attached to PDF file created with conversion to PDF plug-in.
