When a number higher than "65,536" is set as the starting page number, an error message is displayed after opening the [Setup Header/Footer] dialog box, clicking [OK] or [Apply] in the [Page Number] tab, and moving to a different tab. In this situation, change the starting number to "65,535" or lower or click [Cancel] to avoid the error message.

Compatibility with DocuWorks Ver.4

Annotations in general

  • Color and transparency properties that have been added to Ver.5.0 will be displayed as they are. If no change has been made with Ver.4, previous settings remain saved when the document is displayed again with Ver.5.
  • If this document is displayed with DocuWorks Ver.4.x, the starch setting is disabled. However, when the document is displayed again with Ver.5.0 or later, annotations remain fixed in their original places.

Documents with link annotations

  • In a tool tip, not a character string set with Ver.5.0 or later but a character string that is automatically created by Ver.4.x is shown. When the document is displayed with Ver.5.0 or later again, previous settings remain saved.
  • Settings for link destinations added in Ver.5.0 (other files, e-mail addresses, and link annotations) will be canceled, and link destinations will be changed to pages to which corresponding link annotations are pasted. If [OK] has not been clicked in the dialog box with Ver.4.x, previous settings remain saved when the document is displayed again with Ver.5.0 or later.

Documents with text annotations

Rotation and line spacing are displayed as they are. Changing properties will cause switch-over to horizontal writing, single-line-spacing. If the line spacing has been changed to horizontal writing, single-line-spacing in Ver.4.x, horizontal writing, single-spacing becomes effective when the document is displayed again with Ver.5.0 or later. However, since the setting made in the dialog box is saved, the previous setting can be reflected by clicking [OK].

Documents with polygon annotations

Polygon annotations will be displayed as they are. However, they can be neither selected nor edited. When the document is displayed again with Ver.5 or later, these annotations will be displayed in their original state.

Header and Footer

  • Headers and footers that span multiple lines are displayed as they are. However, new line characters will not be shown correctly in the dialog box and will appear as "ยท" instead. So long as you have not made character-string and/or style changes in Ver.4.x, previous settings remain saved when the document is displayed again with Ver.5.0 or later.
  • The start page and the end page will become invalid if the page count or setting of the document is changed and updated. Previous settings can be reflected by updating the document once again with Ver.5.0 or later.
  • If the number of digits for pagination is updated, page numbers that fall short of the specified digit count will not be preceded with zeros. Previous settings can be reflected by updating the document once again with Ver.5.0 or later.

Document properties

General information and user-defined properties will not be displayed in Ver.4.x. When the document is displayed again with Ver.5 or later, these annotations will be displayed in their original state.

Compatibility with DocuWorks Ver.3

Documents and binders that are created using DocuWorks 4 or later cannot be opened by DocuWorks Ver.3.x.
