[Page Size] group
For the paper size of the PDF file, you can select a standard paper size such as Letter or A4, or specify a custom width and height. You can also configure the margin setting.
Note
The paper size specified using the page setting within the application takes precedence over the paper size set here.
[Standard:]
You can select the paper size from the list box. You can confirm the width and height of each size.
[Custom Size:]
You can specify the paper size by entering width and height. The unit of measure can be changed using [Unit for Custom Size and Margin], if required.
[Orientation] group
You can select [Portrait] or [Landscape] for the paper orientation.
Note
The paper orientation specified using the page setting within the application takes precedence over the paper orientation set here.
[Margin] group
[Margin:]
You can configure the margin setting for the top and left sides of the page of the PDF file. The unit of measure can be changed using [Unit for Custom Size and Margin], if required.
The margin specified here will be set inside of the margin that was set using the page setting within the application.
Therefore, if you set a margin here for the PDF file, then all the pages will move to lower right of the original, which may result in an overflow that will be removed or generated as separate pages.

[Unit for Custom Size and Margin:]
You can select the unit of measure used for specifying the paper size or margin from [Inch], [Point], and [Millimeter]. If you change Units, the input value of [Paper Size] and [Margin] will be changed automatically.
The units are converted as 1 inch = 25.4 millimeters = 72 points.

[Open Files after Saving]
Select this to have the PDF file open automatically after it is created.
[Delete Blank Pages]
Select this if you do not want the PDF file to include blank pages in the original document.
Note
With Microsoft PowerPoint, even if blank pages are present they will not be deleted.
With Microsoft Word, blank pages made pressing the Enter key will not be deleted. Only blank pages made using [Page Break] on the [Insert] menu will be deleted.

[Web Optimization]
Select this to optimize a PDF file for viewing on the Web site. This will make the PDF file downloadable page by page for quicker browsing.
Note
Optimization cannot simultaneously be performed with the security or time stamp function.
[Embed Thumbnails]
Select this to embed thumbnail images in the new PDF file.
If you embed thumbnails, you can select a thumbnail in the PDF viewer to display the correct page quickly.
If you embed thumbnails, you can select a thumbnail in the PDF viewer to display the correct page quickly.
Note
This option is enabled when 72 to 1200 dpi is specified in [Resolution] and [Zoom].
[Color/Monochrome] group
Select [Color] or [Monochrome] to set the PDF color. Selecting [Monochrome] will create a grayscale PDF file.
[Resolution and Zoom] group
You can configure the resolution and zoom settings for the new PDF file.
[Resolution:]
Select the resolution for the PDF file you make from among [72 dpi], [96 dpi], [150 dpi], [300 dpi], [600 dpi], [1200 dpi], or [2400 dpi].
While the layout of the document will be accurate with higher resolutions, the file will usually grow in size.
If the PDF file is one you will only display on a monitor, setting it 150 dpi or less will not be a problem.
However, when a resolution of 150 dpi or less is specified, the contents of the page displayed by the application and the PDF file may be different (change in character spacing, etc.)

Note
Specify a resolution of 300 dpi or more when creating the PDF file to ensure the document layout integrity or when printing in high quality.
[Zoom:]
You can specify the zoom level for the new PDF file.
The zoom level set here will be applied to the contents of the original document. Since the zoom level can be set when displaying and printing the PDF file, it is not usually necessary to change the default value of 100% (original size).
The zoom setting does not affect the page size.
If a PDF file is created from an A4-sized document with a zoom setting of 50%, the content of the document will be reduced to 50% (to A5 size) and placed on an A4 size page.
If a zoom setting of 200% is specified, the content of the document will be increased to 200% and placed on an A4 size page, but the overflowing area will be deleted or moved to separate pages.

Configure settings for the file name of a new PDF file and the folder to which it will be saved.
[Show Save Dialog] | Selecting [Show Save Dialog] will show the [Save PDF File As] dialog box every time you output a PDF file, and you can specify the save destination and file name. |
---|---|

Destination Folder
The folder specified in [Destination Folder] is the folder initially displayed in the [Save PDF File As] dialog box when you selected [Show Save Dialog], and will be the output destination for the PDF file when selecting [Output to the Specified Destination Folder].
When you click [Default], the settings content will be restored to its initial state.

Setting When File Already Exists
You can select from the following options for handling a file with the same name as the PDF file you are creating that already exists in the destination folder.
[Display Warning Dialog] | A message appears to confirm whether or not to overwrite the existing file with the same name. |
---|---|
[Overwrite] | Automatically overwrite an existing file. |
[Save File with Sequential Number] | Save a file by automatically adding a sequential number (1, 2 to 99,999) to the end of each file name. An error will result if the number exceeds 99,999, and no PDF files will be created. For example, if a document named ABC.doc is converted three times without changing the file name, the PDF files to be created will be ABC.pdf, ABC1.pdf, and ABC2.pdf. |
[Append the PDF File to the Existing PDF File] | The content of the new PDF file is appended to the content of the existing file to make a single file. |
Note
When you have selected either [Overwrite] or [Append the PDF File to the Existing PDF File], be very careful when creating a PDF. There is the danger that an important PDF file might get overwritten or the content may change.
Add the Date to the File Name
Check when automatically adding the date the PDF was created to the file name of the new PDF file.
