Neighborhood Desks
Neighborhood Desks is a feature to share the Desk Workspace between PCs connected to the same subnetwork.
Neighborhood Desks Characteristics
Neighborhood Desks provides a feature for small groups to readily begin a small local document sharing by using Desk. Neighborhood Desks characteristics include:
- Direct communication occurs between active Desks without using intermediate devices such as a file server.
Compared to a method that communicates via a file server such as using link folders, it takes time to perform some operations such as updating file status and sending file data, because Desk performs transfer of file information in background. - Only a single file can be transferred to and received from another PC at a time. When multiple transmissions occur simultaneously, for example, when you want to consecutively send or receive files, please note that the number of such files are around five.
- The sharing of data such as document information can be performed only while Desk is up.
- For certain operations including administration of access rights, fast updating/transferring of file statuses, and steady file sharing, it is preferable to use other methods such as using functions of the link folders and using the linkage with document management systems.
Neighborhood Desks Tools
