The following information explains how to use DocuWorks 9 Update 9.0.11 (hereafter Update).

The versions that can be upgraded with this software are DocuWorks 9 (versions 9.0.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, 9.0.3, 9.0.4, 9.0.5, 9.0.6, 9.0.7, 9.0.8, 9.0.9 and 9.0.10). Installing this software allows you to upgrade your currently installed DocuWorks to DocuWorks 9.0.11.
2. Modifications
Difference between 9.0.10 and 9.0.11
- Fixed the problem where there are cases when editing a PDF file created with a specific scanner in black and white and high compression settings using DocuWorks Desk, the edited file could not be opened. (214421)

- In OCR processing with "Output the recognition results as a file" enabled, running an OCR for multiple files containing DocuWorks documents not to be OCRed occasionally caused the ORC to terminate in the middle. This problem has been corrected. (187400)
- Creating a new toolbar on DocuWorks Desk and placing a button having submenus (Rotate, Arrange, or Rotate Front Page) caused DocuWorks Desk to fail to start. This problem has been corrected. (187397)
- Displaying a corrupted PDF file in DocuWorks Desk caused an internal error to occur at the time of exiting of Desk. This problem has been corrected. (185203)
- In an environment of a user account having specific characters in its name, displaying or creating a Task Toolbar, and importing DocuWorks settings files did not work. This problem has been corrected. (165125)
- Running a Scan and Import with some scanner drivers caused DocuWorks Desk to abnormally terminate. This problem has been corrected. (163620)
- Microsoft Outlook mail sheets (.msg files) stored in a DocuWorks container could not be opened. This problem has been corrected. (63551)
- With the Zoom Ratio toolbar displayed in floating mode, DocuWorks Viewer occasionally abnormally terminated. This problem has been corrected. (108276)
- When displaying a DocuWorks document with the setting "showing in View as Continuous Page" enabled, any annotation placed in foreground of a NotePad that runs off the page image appeared behind the NotePad. This problem has been corrected. (52072)
- In the DocuWorks Viewer full screen view, rendering speed for image pages has been improved. (189362)
- In the licensed edition, programs created with DocuWorks Development Tool Kit occasionally abnormally terminated. This problem has been corrected. (187136)

- In an environment having DocuWorks Viewer Light 9.1 installed, the Electronic Signature menu occasionally did not appear in DocuWorks Viewer. This problem has been corrected. (159615)

- We have added a modification that makes it possible to save settings information correctly when you specify a Fuji Film brand driver with Easy Printer.

- The way how to install Device Folder Extended Folder has been changed.
- Executing [Open Original Location] for a file located in Task Space occasionally caused Explorer to launch. This problem has been corrected. (59323)
- In an environment with IPv6 disabled, an error telling that "Failed to search devices" appeared in the [Add mailbox] window of Mailbox Extended Folder. This problem has been corrected. (94244)
- As a measure to prevent file corruption during edit, the process for editing and saving DocuWorks files within a network folder has been improved. (136695)
- DocuWorks Desk could not provide thumbnail view for JPEG files. This problem has been corrected. (136699)
- In the [Find and Mark] plugin, the [Start] button occasionally did not work with a character string from input history specified. This problem has been corrected. (136702)
- Launching DocuWorks Desk occasionally failed. This problem has been corrected. (136710)
- In some applications such as ##Easy Scan## ready for various business usage, creating a virtual printer occasionally failed. This problem has been corrected. (136802)
- In DocuWorks Viewer, running Write Signature and Save As occasionally failed. This problem has been corrected. (136818)
- In the DocuWorks Desk settings, the selection under [Import File] > [Color Image quality and compression rate] was occasionally not saved successfully. This problem has been corrected. (136821)
- Canceling a conversion into DocuWorks document and running another conversion into DocuWorks document sometimes caused the first - canceled - one to be created. This problem has been corrected. (136834)
- Using a status sharing folder in DocuWorks Desk occasionally caused DocuWorks Desk to abnormally terminate. This problem has been corrected. (136841)
- Sorting documents in Link Folder by date sometimes took much time. This problem has been corrected. (136855)
- The context menu from the annotation toolbar has been modified. (136994)
- Importing multiple documents scanned with a multifunction machine into Desk at one time using "FUJIFILM Network Scanner Utility 3" caused them to be imported as a single document. This problem has been corrected. (137236)
- Printing to a printer supporting non-standard size, with "Print in the user-defined paper size" selected in detailed print settings, resulted in an output of a standard size. This problem has been corrected. (137244, 137320)
- Attempting to change the attributes of a PDF file opened via a certain application by another user occasionally caused the attribute changes to be failed. This problem has been corrected. (137321)

- Added the feature to check the license usage information on our Administration site.

- The function of "Split Image Page" has been added.
- The function of "Create Document from Pages with NotePads" has been added.
- The function of "Delete NotePads" has been added.
- The function to hide notepads and print has been added.
- Updating the cache files used for displaying the thumbnails of DocuWorks Desk sometimes failed. This problem has been corrected. (94384)
- Deleting annotations on the annotation toolbar of Viewer by "Delete Annotation Toolbar" sometimes occurred an error with the annotation toolbar. This problem has been corrected. (106081)
- When performing the personal settings in the silent installation, specifying the skip action of the installation of the toolbar sometimes did not work as expected. This problem has been corrected. (109462)

- We have improved the product by adjusting (moderating) the rendering pace so that operations can be done during drawing even when you are working with an application document containing a large amount of data to be rendered. (45928)
- With a DocuWorks document displayed in Internet Explorer, selecting [View] - [Start Web Browser] from the context menu caused an abnormal termination of the browser. This problem has been corrected. (46169)
- Opening a signed document occasionally caused an abnormal termination of DocuWorks Viewer. This problem has been corrected. (48144)
- After unstacking a PDF document, the file size of the top page occasionally remained the same as the original data. This problem has been corrected。 (50567)
- Imaging a PDF file containing read-only form fields occasionally caused the retrieved images to be distorted. This problem has been corrected. (50636)
- On a generated PDF document, vertical writing font characters did not appear at the correct position. This problem has been corrected. (50637)
- Invalid PDF data such as missing encoding information caused unexpected characters to appear in outputs. This problem has been corrected. (50638)
- Printing to DocuWorks PDF occasionally caused interruption of printing. This problem has been corrected. (57282)
- In an environment with an incorrect folder specified as the storage location for temporary files, DocuWorks Viewer Control terminated abnormally. This problem has been corrected. (60071)
- Running the [Find and Mark] feature occasionally caused endless loop. This problem has been corrected. (62503)
- On a touch screen PC, you can now change the size of area selected on an annotation. (66771)
- With DocuWorks Viewer being inactive, flipping pages with your mouse and keyboard caused an abnormal termination of DocuWorks Viewer. This problem has been corrected. (69950)
- In an environment with access to the registry prohibited, during import or export of Task Toolbar, certain processes for the plug-ins resulted in failure. This problem has been corrected. (73937)
- Running Scan and Import for documents in grayscale caused an abnormal termination of Desk. This problem has been corrected. (74605)

- During printing from Desk or Viewer, some of the settings for the printer driver were not enabled. This problem has been corrected. (75277)
- Users with read-only access were unable to open files already open. This problem has been corrected. (81286)
- During printing via the DocuWorks Viewer command line, the window occasionally became visible for a moment. This problem has been corrected. (82141)
- An access key has been assigned to both the "Task Toolbar" tab in [Tool] > [Task Toolbar], and "Toolbars" in [Tool] > [Toolbars], that are accessible from the menu bar. (84864)
- Importing Task Toolbar having the [Start Command Execution] plug-in registered with it sometimes resulted in abnormal exit of DocuWorks Desk. This problem has been corrected. (85665)
- Users were unable to open files in an environment where they were prohibited to access the drive but were permitted to access subfolders. This problem has been corrected. (86215)
- Activating license from the License Management screen with serial number for upgrade caused a dialog prompting the user to enter serial number for the previous version to appear in 60 days. This problem has been corrected. (86455)

- Some measures to mitigate the problem where deleting files in a link folder occasionally failed due to the effect of security software and others have been implemented. (90611)
- In DocuWorks Viewer, signatures did not appear clearly. This problem has been corrected. (91438)
- Saving DocuWorks document with edited an annotation caused an abnormal termination. This problem has been corrected. (91933)
- During printing an Excel file to DocuWorks PDF, canceling the print by the user caused an error message to appear following an information message notifying of the cancellation. This problem has been corrected. (92837)

- When [Setting When File Already Exists] is set to either [Overwrite] or [Display Warning Dialog] in the DocuWorks PDF print settings, the system can now display an error message in advance if it detects that the overwrite destination file is in use and therefore it cannot be overwritten. (92839)
- With [Setting When File Already Exists] being set to [Display Warning Dialog] and the [Specify Location to Save File] check box being unselected in the DocuWorks PDF print settings, printing ended in error. This problem has been corrected. (92841)
- A confirmation message will now be displayed to ask the user whether to continue printing if [Setting When File Already Exists] is set to [Append the PDF File to the Existing PDF File] in the DocuWorks PDF print settings, and if the add destination PDF file is signed. (92842)
- Printing from Internet Explorer in Extended Protection mode to DocuWorks PDF occasionally caused the printing to fail. This problem has been corrected. (92843)
- Converting a document containing a combination of drawing commands to be applied upon printing into PDF file by using DocuWorks PDF occasionally caused the corresponding area to appear as black fill. This problem has been corrected. (92845)
- Converting a document containing two or more brushes, for which tiling patterns without color and tiling patterns with color being available, into PDF file by using DocuWorks PDF occasionally caused the conversion to fail. This problem has been corrected. (92846)
- Converting a document containing a combination of drawing commands to be applied upon printing into PDF file by using DocuWorks PDF occasionally caused the converted results to not appear as expected. This problem has been corrected. (92847)
- With DocuWorks Desk, stacking two PDF files containing input forms occasionally caused the operation ended in error even if the IDs of those input forms were different. This problem has been corrected. (93054)

- Problem occurs on DocuWorks Desk when performing operations like stacking documents into file on network, so regardless of settings configured in [DocuWorks Settings] > [DocuWorks Desk Options] > [Document Operation] > [Edit in Network Folder], always perform operation via [Edit Directly]. - Displaying DocuWorks documents using Yu Gothic fonts caused the display to be distorted. This problem has been corrected. (47046)
- Printing from DocuWorks Desk caused a massage indicating "the untitled document contains an incorrect path." to be displayed. This problem has been corrected. (51108)
- No tabs except for [About] were displayed when DocuWorks PDF [Property] was selected. This problem has been corrected. (45619)

- When attempting to run an update install of DocuWorks Viewer Light, users were asked to uninstall the previous version. This problem has been corrected. (48122)

- Drop-down menu options for a property name displayed on the [Custom] tab for document properties were different from those for a property name displayed when adding new attributes in the InfoView properties window. This problem has been corrected. (51084)
- Arc length of Cloud Callout annotation can now be specified in 0.1 cm increments. (54599)

- With the OCR plug-in's Auto Rotation (upright) feature, unexpected application pages were rotated 90 degree. This problem has been corrected. (25997)
- In an environment having the optional software "DocuWorks Tray 2" installed, selecting [Location Confirmation] in DocuWorks Desk as a display item of List View and then switching the workspace area to List View caused DocuWorks Desk to crash. This problem has been corrected. (26041)
- If you registered non-standard features with Toolbars or Task Toolbar, running synchronization of Task Space triggered a warning message. This problem has been corrected. (26043)
- The Page Layout plug-in failed to save some settings. This problem has been corrected. (26025)
- Displaying a document that was converted with DocuWorks 6 in high resolution caused the alignment of the displayed characters to change. This problem has been corrected. (25962)
- In Korean and Simplified Chinese versions of DocuWorks Viewer, there were some issues with the Help button functionalities on the [Advance] tab screens in the [Received Stamp Properties] dialog box. This problem has been corrected. (25806)
3. Installation
Read the following notes carefully before installing Update.
3-1. Installation Requirements
To install this software, DocuWorks 9 (versions 9.0.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, 9.0.3, 9.0.4, 9.0.5, 9.0.6, 9.0.7, 9.0.8, 9.0.9 and 9.0.10) must already be installed on your computer.
3-2. Installation Notes
- You must run the setup program (Setup.exe) to install the software.
- Before you begin installation, be sure to exit all running applications.
- If you abort the Setup program midway through the installation, DocuWorks will not work. You must install the software again.
- If a file copy error occurs, try the following remedies.
- The destination directory or file is write-protected.
Remove the write protection. - The original installation file cannot be read.
Check that the compressed installation file is decompressed correctly and run setup again.
- After the installation, do not change the structure of program files' directory or move files, otherwise DocuWorks may fail to run.
- Your user account must have Administrator or equivalent privileges to perform installation.
- If restart is required after installation, be sure to log on as a user with Administrator-level privileges. Installation may not be successfully completed unless you log onto DocuWorks after restart.
- When installing DocuWorks on a computer remotely from another computer, it may fail to create DocuWorks Port, and the DocuWorks Printer may not function properly. You must establish a connection locally to the computer on which you wish to install DocuWorks, and then install DocuWorks.
- When DocuWorks is installed, services that require Print Spooler service are stopped. Start these services manually after the installation is finished, or restart Microsoft Windows.
- When running silent installation, make sure that you set the language to install, for example by using the SilentInstall key in the Install section or the Reboot key in the Finish section of the installation customizing setting file. (93775)

3-3. Installation Procedure
- After running the self-extracting file downloaded from the web page, run "Setup.exe" in the folder created when the file is extracted.
The installer starts.
- In the [Welcome to the installation program] dialog box, click [Next].
The [License Agreement] dialog box appears.
- Read the License Agreement thoroughly.
Select [I accept the terms in the license agreement], and click [Next].
A confirmation message appears asking whether you want to start installation.
- Click [Install].
Installation starts.
When installation is complete, the [Setup Wizard has completed.] dialog box appears.
- Click [Finish].
4. Version Information
You can check the updated version number for DocuWorks Desk or Viewer by selecting [About DocuWorks] or [About DocuWorks Viewer] from the [Help] menu. After installing Update, the name of the version number is displayed as follows:

- DocuWorks Viewer: Version 9.0.11
5. Notes and Restrictions
- This software is provided only for those customers who have previously installed DocuWorks 9 (versions 9.0.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, 9.0.3, 9.0.4, 9.0.5, 9.0.6, 9.0.7, 9.0.8, 9.0.9 and 9.0.10). This software cannot update any other versions of DocuWorks.
- If you open a DocuWorks document with a long file path, such as one in cloud storage, the name of the file may not appear in "Recent Files". (86216)
