Creating or Opening an Electronic Signature Case
You can create an Electronic Signature Case to store Electronic Signatures as follows. You must start Electronic Signature Case Tool to perform the following procedures.
Creating an Electronic Signature Case
You can create more than one Electronic Signature Case.
When you create a new Electronic Signature Case, you specify [Signature Case name], [User name], and [Password].
When you create a new Electronic Signature Case, you specify [Signature Case name], [User name], and [Password].
- [Signature Case name] is used as the name of the Electronic Signature Case data file.
This file is saved in the "DWFolders\Stampcases" folder and has the extension "xsc". - [User name] appears in the properties for the Electronic Signatures you create in this Electronic Signature Case. Note that you cannot change the user name once you set it.
- [Password] is required when you open the Electronic Signature Case.
Procedure
1.
Select [DocuWorks Electronic Signature] from the [Document] menu, then select [Signature Case Tool] in Viewer.
The [Open Signature Case] dialog box appears.
2.
Click [New].
[Signature Case - New] dialog box appears.
3.
Select the desired options and click [OK].
The [DocuWorks Electronic Signature Case Tool] window appears.
4.
Select [Exit Signature Case Tool] from the [File] menu.
The [DocuWorks Electronic Signature Case Tool] window closes and the specified Electronic Signature Case is created.
Important
Ensure that your password is not known to other users. A user who has access to your password and Electronic Signature Case data file may use your My Electronic Signature as his / her My Electronic Signature.
Note
- The [Signature Case name] cannot exceed 255 characters. The following characters cannot be used:
\ / : * ? " < > | - The [User name] cannot exceed 63 characters.
- The [Password] is limited within 5 to 255 characters. You can only use alphanumerical characters, symbols, and spaces in a password.
- You can start the Electronic Signature Case Tool from the command line. Also, by configuring it as a start command execution plug-in in Desk, you can start it from Desk.
Opening an Electronic Signature Case
Procedure
1.
Select [DocuWorks Electronic Signature] from the [Document] menu, then select [Signature Case Tool] in Viewer.
The [Open Signature Case] dialog box appears.
2.
Select an Electronic Signature Case from [Signature Case name].
3.
Enter the appropriate password in [Password], then click [OK].
The [DocuWorks Electronic Signature Case Tool] window appears.
Opening a different Electronic Signature Case
You can open a different Electronic Signature Case when you already have an Electronic Signature Case open as follows. Perform the following procedure in the [DocuWorks Electronic Signature Case Tool] window. When you open another Electronic Signature Case, the Electronic Signature Case that was open closes.
Procedure
1.
Select [Open Another Signature Case] from the [File] menu in the [DocuWorks Electronic Signature Case Tool] window. The [Open Signature Case] dialog box appears.
The [Open Signature Case] dialog box appears.
2.
Select the desired Electronic Signature Case from [Signature Case name], enter the appropriate password in [Password].
The contents of the newly opened Electronic Signature Case appear in the [DocuWorks Electronic Signature Case Tool] window.
Changing the password for an Electronic Signature Case
You can change the password you use to open an Electronic Signature Case as follows. Perform the following procedure in the [DocuWorks Electronic Signature Case Tool] window.
Procedure
1.
Select [Change Password] from the [File] menu in the [DocuWorks Electronic Signature Case Tool] window.
The [Change Password] dialog box appears.
2.
Enter the new password in [New Password]. Enter the new password again in [Confirm password], then click [OK].
The password is changed.
