About Binders

A binder is a container that can store multiple DocuWorks documents as individual stacks.

• If you stack multiple documents, they are combined into 1 document. Whereas, a binder, being just a container, can store multiple documents as independent stacks.
• You can add a document to or remove a document from a binder while retaining the original data, the header and footer information, and the properties of the document.
• You can assign serial page numbers to the entire binder.
• You can check the organization of documents in a binder without opening the documents using the [Binder Index] dialog box.
• You can modify the organization of documents in a binder (rename, move, or copy them, for example) in the [Binder Index] dialog box.

In thumbnail view, a binder is displayed as follows:

• Size and color
  You can specify the size and color of a binder when you create it. You can also change these properties later using the [General] tab of the [Document Properties] dialog box.
• Original data
  If the binder contains one or more documents with original data attached, an icon is shown on the binder.
• Binding margin
  Double-clicking the binding margin will open the [Binder Index] dialog box.
• Page display
  A cover page is displayed when the binder is empty.
• Page number / number of pages
  The current page number and the total number of pages in the binder are displayed.
  Nothing is displayed if the binder is empty.
  When a pageless document is displayed, a hyphen appears in place of the current page number.

In list view, the binder icon is displayed to the left of the binder name.

In grid view, the binder icons are displayed in the same way as thumbnail view, and they can be operated and set in the same way.
However, the thumbnails are displayed according to binder size, and the paper size of the displayed page is displayed on the left side.
